The carbon footprint It represents the estimated amount of CO2 emissions released into the atmosphere by a company.
Carbon neutrality is a key goal in the fight against climate change. It involves balancing the CO2 emissions produced with those removed or offset.
FoodNess offsets its CO2 emissions through support of the Rimba Raya REDD+ project.
The Carbon Neutral project began with the quantification of direct and indirect emissions of tons of CO2 equivalent, following the GHG Protocol and GRI guidelines. For the first time, we included a portion of Scope 3 in our reporting. Subsequently, we committed to offsetting our emissions through UN-recognized Carbon Credits (UNFCCC), which support a project dedicated to protecting Indonesia’s native forests.
The Rimba Raya project was created to protect 47,000 hectares of forest in Indonesia, otherwise destined for destruction to make way for palm oil plantations. This forest serves as a habitat for numerous orangutans and many other endangered animal species, as well as a home for protected plants and trees.
Rimba Raya is not only about preserving native forests but also about improving the lives of local communities through healthcare services, access to clean water, and the construction of schools. This is why Rimba Raya is a holistic project, certified by the SD Vista standard, meeting all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.
